JOOUST Student Apprentice Hub (JOOUST SAH) is village-focused paid-on-the-job-skill-mentorship for student on climate-action It is an initiative of Tembea Futures Institute (TeFI) under its flagship village climate actors network (VillageCAN) Project in partnership with Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science & Technology (JOOUST) implemented by Uhai Innovations.

Who We Are

JOOUST Student Apprentice Hub (JOOUST SAH) is a student-owned, student-led, and student-managed self-help, industry-driven initiative offering a high-quality career pathway that combines:
• Paid on-the-job skills mentorship
• E-learner skills classroom
• Data Science Bureau
• Own-source climate-finance innovations, including:
    – Student Meals 4 Skills (SMS) Eatery
    – Waste-to-Energy Plant
    – Student Smartfarms
    – Fundraiser Events

It also features a Smart Extension Service model, where each apprentice is deployed to activate and support four (4) Village Climate Investment Groups focused on: • Hospital innovations • Climate action • Social entrepreneurship • Extension services • Loyalty-as-a-Service • Business Development

Yes, a SAH Fellow will earn a monthly stipend of Ksh. 8,000-12,000 off a share of loyalty savings from own recruited SAH members and progressively off a share of loyalty-savings by 400 households under own 4 active village climate investment groups.

The admission process for students actively seeking apprenticeship, economic opportunities and civic responsibilities:

  1. Recruit 24 SAH members and be loyal at Student Meal 4 Skill (SMS) Eatery by at least 60 meals/supplies a month
  2. Execute Student Apprentice Hub (SAH) Fellows solicitation proposal form
  3. SAH Fellow applicants are shortlisted by a select apprentice mentors committee
  4. The shortlisted applicants undergo an on-line interview by a select apprentice mentors committee
  5. Successful interviewees undergo 5 days on-line induction and subsequent deployment under SAH Fellows Program
  6. Apprentice is assigned a mentor and at least 4 villages where he/she operationalizes village climate investment groups
  7. SAH Fellow networks with others within a county community to serve their mentors established community foundation
